Different types of diamond clarity

Buying Diamond is an important moment for any individual so it very imperative to be aware of the 4 C’s (Cut, Colour, Clarity, Carat). Here is the details of diamond clarity, so that you understand them and make a wise choice.

CLARITY

When a diamond is formed, there can be a existence of minute particles of non-crystallised carbon (or in simple language non-diamond crystals) inside the diamond and can be seen in the internal characteristics of a diamond, such as tiny cracks that make a diamond appear whitish or cloudy, this imperfection is called inclusions, and surface defects are called blemishes Inclusions are not really visible through the naked eye, however they interfere with the passage of light and can affect diamond's ability to transmit and scatter light. Therefore the lesser inclusions a diamond has, the more valued and rare it is.

A diamond clarity refers to two things

1) Inclusions - These are found within the diamond and are counted in internal flaws. Few examples are
  • Air bubbles
  • Clouds
  • Cavities
  • Laser lines

2) Blemishes - They are found on the surface of diamond and are counted in surface flaws. Some of them occur during the cutting process. Few examples are-

  • Polish lines
  • Scratches
  • Dark spots
  • Breaks

Process of determining a diamonds Clarity

Clarity is categorized using international grading scales. The categories of clarity are decided by the number, size and position of the inclusions within the diamond. According to modern grading system it ranges from Flawless (diamonds which are completely free of blemishes and inclusions), to Imperfect 3 (diamonds which possess large, heavy blemishes and inclusions that are visible to the naked eye).

  • Flawless (F): No internal or external flaws that are extremely rare.
  • Internally Flawless (IF): No internal flaws, but have some surface flaws.
  • Very Very Slightly (VVS1-VVS2): These are minute inclusions that are very difficult to detect under 10x magnification by a trained gemmologist.
  • Very Slightly (VS1-VS2): These minute inclusions can be seen with difficulty under 10x magnification.
  • Slightly Included (SI1-SI2): Minute inclusions which more easily detected under 10x magnification.
  • Included (I1, I2, I3). Inclusions which are visible under 10x magnification and are also easily detectable by the naked eye.

To wrap things up, do have a wise knowledge of diamond clarity before you buy them, to have the best quality in your hands.

How to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring (For Men)

For centuries it has been custom to give an engagement ring as a symbol of love, togetherness and the start of your exciting new journey together as a couple, so it’s important that you select the right ring for your future life partner. Traditionally, a marriage proposal is completed with the perfect ring, but this can mean many different things to different people.

Like diamonds, every woman has her own unique style and taste, and you should choose a ring that you know she will adore and treasure throughout your engagement and beyond. Think about a style and colouring that your partner favours and will suit them, and if you’re still not sure - ask them!

With so many different engagement rings out there to choose from, it can be a challenge to know where to start. We’ve assembled this guide to help you make this meaningful decision with confidence.

Choose the Perfect Metal

Selecting which metal from which the band of your engagement ring is made is as important as choosing the gemstone it holds. An engagement ring is a promise that lasts forever, and precious metals are the perfect embodiment of this sentiment. Gold and platinum do not tarnish over time and are gentle to skin so can be worn comfortably by your loved one for years to come.

There is a range of possibilities to choose from when it comes to engagement ring metal.

Gold
Gold, also called ‘yellow gold’, is a fabulous, traditional choice of metal for an engagement band. If your betrothed favours gold-toned jewellery and accessories, classic gold is the ideal choice, and has a lighter weight than comparative materials. Yellow gold is scratch-resistant and durable to ensure the engagement ring stays looking divine for years to come.

White Gold
White gold is a contemporary alternative to yellow gold and a continuously popular choice for engagement rings. White gold is made up of yellow gold and mixture of palladium and silver, which gives it that gorgeous white sheen. White gold has the appearance of platinum, but with a lower price tag.

Rose Gold
Uniquely romantic, rose gold, or pink gold, is a stunning choice for those looking for a contemporary engagement ring metal. Like white gold, rose gold is classic yellow gold with the addition of other alloys to obtain that beautifully subtle pink hue.

Platinum
Pure platinum is a naturally white metal. It is an incredibly resilient material making it perfect for an engagement ring as it holds the stone securely in place. Everything about a platinum engagement band exudes luxury, quality and eternity; the perfect gift to symbolise the start of your journey together.

Choose the Perfect Stone

Once you’ve chosen the perfect metal for your engagement ring, now it’s time to select the stone that will be set inside it.

Diamonds
Nothing says ‘forever’ like a diamond. The eternally popular choice for engagement bands, diamonds are the embodiment of classic glamour and romance.

Sapphires
If you’re looking for a colour-stoned engagement ring, sapphires are a fabulous choice. After diamonds, sapphires are the strongest gemstones and come in a range of colours as well as the classic blue; in fact, rubies are technically just red sapphires!

Birthstones
The addition of birthstones to an engagement ring is a lovely way to add that personal, unique touch. Choose from a range of delicate birthstones to include alongside the main gemstone in the ring.

Shape

Shape is also a factor to consider when selecting the perfect stone. Gemstones are available in a range of shapes to suit individual tastes. Choose from classic round, oval, princess, emerald, and heart-shaped stones to suit the hand on which the ring will be placed.

Setting

Consider the different styles of stone settings when choosing an engagement ring. The style of setting impacts the appearance of the ring. Choose from a range of different settings, including: solitaire, pave, halo, side stones, channel set, three stone and vintage.

Choose the Perfect Jeweller

Selecting the perfect engagement ring for your fiancée requires a lot of thought and reflection to make sure you get it just right. Sunny Diamonds is a friendly and professional jeweller with over two decades of experience in making quality engagement rings.

We know how important it is to choose a ring that embodies the excitement and uniqueness of your journey to marriage and beyond. Sunny Diamonds: We Understand Jewellery and We Understand You

Jewellery has always been important to ladies and gentlemen of discerning taste. A tasteful piece serves as the finishing touch to many an outfit on a special occasion. Additionally our everyday lives see us add items of jewellery to our ensembles that complement and highlight our best features. At Sunny Diamonds we understand how our customers need to look their best, no matter the circumstances. However, we also understand society’s feelings and the emotions that underpin its continuing fascination with jewellery and the attraction to personal adornments. To our customers, jewellery isn’t just about glittering jewels set in sleek, contemporary designs. It’s about memories, emotions, sentiments and intimacy.

Humankind’s affinity for jewellery is as old as humanity itself. There are museums around the world dedicated to the history of jewellery, revealing how it has evolved through the ages in different cultures. At Sunny Diamonds we appreciate that we are now responsible for the continuations of this ancient art. It is up to seasoned experts, such as ourselves, to ensure quality and longevity through excellent craftsmanship and timeless, yet contemporary, design.

Despite its ancient beginnings jewellery continues to be important to modern men as well as women. In early times jewellery provided each of us with that “little bit extra” to attract romantic suitors. Now we have other means to attract one another, but after all this time jewellery remains the most effective way to embellish our appearance to create a stunning first impression. Many customers attending a wedding will come to us looking for a piece that will really complement their best features while marking them out as special individuals with exquisite taste.

Some aren’t interested in attracting attention. Instead they want to make a statement announcing their power or wealth. We don’t need to look far for examples of this. Think of kings and queens and they immediately call to mind the Crown Jewels. That’s an extreme example but our wealthier clients are often keen to use different forms of jewellery to emphasise their success. For them jewellery adds an aura of confidence - not only in their business ability - but in the way they look.

Many simply wear jewellery because it is an ideal way for them to express their individuality. A beautifully crafted piece that suits their taste displays their personality in a subtle way that is difficult to achieve via other means.

Our clients all have their own reasons for the jewellery they invest in and during the process we enjoy learning their individual motives. Each of our clients is indeed an individual and each piece they receive from us is an artwork that expresses their wishes, desires and aspirations.

Those who invest in a piece from Sunny Diamonds quickly become smitten with our range. For them we are the first, last and only port of call when they desire a quality piece for a special event, a gift to others or for oneself. Our clients come to us time and time again because they appreciate the care and attention we give them each and every time.

Those browsing our range for the first time will often have a vague idea of what they are seeking. It it is only when their eyes alight upon our range that the final pieces of the puzzle fall into place and they realise that they have found exactly what they have been looking for all long. This quality - which is only one part of the appeal of Sunny Diamonds - is due to our tireless attention to the little details that matter. These are details that cannot be recreated by other designers because they come from a place of love, care and kindness. They come from the soul.

That’s why we say that you are “investing” rather than “buying” a piece from Sunny Diamonds. When you invest in a piece from Sunny Diamonds you will not only receive a gorgeous piece of jewellery that you will treasure forever. You will receive an artwork imbued with the kindness and best intentions of our designers and crafters.

The 4 C’s of Diamonds, by Sunny Diamonds

The value of diamonds is commonly determining by 4 ‘C’s that is Carat, Colour, Clarity and Cut. In this article we intend to provide you information about the carat size, clarity, colour and cut of diamonds, so that you can make a perfect decision while purchasing your diamond jewelleries. Most of the people want to buy the best diamonds for the money they have, so it is very important to check these 4 c’s without compromise.

The best diamond clarity you probably could purchase would be IF, that is internally flawless diamonds. The sunny diamonds gives you only the internally flawless diamonds for the best price. The colours of diamonds are D, E, F (colourless) and if you purchase the internally flawless diamonds with colour D would be very expensive and special because they are very much valuable and rare.

The clarity and the colour of a diamond, the quality of the cut and the carat weight will directly concern its rarity and worth. In general, the clearer the diamond, the rarer and more valuable it will be. An IF (internally flawless) diamond will be more costly than an SI grade diamond of the same weight.

The colour grading of a diamond runs in an alphabetical scale with colours D,E and F are colourless and as a result they are the more high-priced.  The next group of colours G,H,I and J are classed as close to colourless but under the microscope they appear with a faint hint of yellow colour.

Diamonds with a colour K and M are grouped as pale yellow and have a faintly more visible yellow tint than the higher grades.  The prices of this grade are lesser but keep in mind the colour is visibly pale yellow.

The colours graded from N – Z have a very definite hint of yellow to them but are not classed as Fancy Yellow Diamonds. Fancy coloured diamonds are also existing and growing in fame due to the new and glowing colours available.  Blue, champagne, pink and canary yellow diamonds are most popular colours available.

The clarity of a diamond is determined by its cut. The advantage of good cut is noticeable on careful testing without magnification. CUT refers to the size, symmetry and finish of a refined diamond. CUT is the single most significant feature affecting a diamond’s shine, radiance and visual fire
